The 5th Biennial Conference of the Youth Ministry of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Region Nine (9), kicked off today, the 5th of September, 2018 at Gboluji Anglican Grammar School, Ile-Oluji.
The conference is hosted by Ile Oluji District which happens to be one of the six districts in the region.
Pastor Aina Joseph, the newly appointed Youth Pastor for the region, gave the opening speech of the conference titled Sustaining the Faith of Old.
The conference was prayerfully declared open by the first man (Pastor) of the region, Pastor S. D. Bamidele.
The conference, which has some sporting activities in its features, had some football matches played before the commencement of the conference. In the opening match, Ile-Oluji District defeated the boys of the Regional Headquarters, Ondo. In another fixture for the first day, New Town District bowed to Ajegunle District while finally for the day, Ore District finished as the best loser losing 3:2 to Ondo District on penalty after a 1:1 draw.
The opening message was delivered by Pastor Jaman Sunday from Benin District. He took his leading text from Heb. 11: 4-40 on the topic ” Faith of our Fathers: 21st Century; Old School and New School Faith.
” Our Christianity is incomplete without basing it on the faith of our forefathers,” the clergyman said.
Furthermore, he said, ” If you want to succeed in the ministry, you must be connected to the faith of the fathers. ”
More so, he gave three categories of fathers. These are: Old Testament, New Testament and Contemporary Testament fathers.
The minister enlisted some germane tenets of these forefathers thus: they offered all they had at the altar, they believed that God is the true God, they were eternity bound, they sacrificed all they had, they were united in all things, and lots more
He enjoined all youths to be impact makers and not noise makers.
The conference which started on the 5th of September will come to a close on Saturday, the 8th of September, 2018. .
For the semi finals, Ore District will lock horns with Ajegunle District, both districts from Ore Kingdom, while Ile Oluji District will battle it up with Ondo District on Thursday, the 6th of September at Gboluji playground.
